Raise funds and staff spirits with BF Adventure

A Cornish outdoor adventure centre is offering businesses and organisations the chance to boost their staff morale whilst raising money to support young people in the county.

BF Adventure (formerly The Bishop’s Forum), based at Goodygrane near Penryn, is a charity that was set up 21 years ago to support the Cornish community and particularly young people with additional support needs.

While helping more than 8,000 people each year through activities such as rock climbing, canoeing, survival skills and other outdoor adventure sessions, BF Adventure has now launched a corporate event programme.

All proceeds from the team building days are directed back into the charity to support more young people in the future, who are not in education, employment or training or are at risk of disengaging.

Britta Hoffmann, marketing manager for BF Adventure, said: “This is team-building with a difference, because every time a company takes part in outdoor activities with us, all the profits directly impact the lives of young people in Cornwall.”

Days cover a range of areas from leadership skills and exploring staff potential to conflict management and team cohesion.

All programmes are tailor made for the organisation.

Britta added: “We work with the company to design a day to meet their specific needs. This might involve setting personal or group goals, or running a series of days working towards a positive outcome.”

Testimonials of corporate groups that have come to BF Adventure show that participants learnt how to encourage and help each other and often surprised themselves of what they were actually capable of doing.

One company to benefit from a day at BF Adventure is A&P Falmouth.

“The senior managers at A&P Falmouth thoroughly enjoyed their corporate day at BF Adventure”, said Paul Kneebone, Personnel Manager at A&P, “ The main highlight of the adventure day was building a raft which then had to rescue a maiden in distress. Given the high level of ship repair and maritime skills available it was a slight surprise when the raft ‘turned turtle’ after only 10 seconds on the water, however, as good ship repairers the team worked well together to fix the problem and complete the job on time and on budget!”

Team building and Leadership courses can be booked for 8 people or more.
