A former business journalist has expanded her role at a Cornish marketing firm after being promoted to director. MPAD’s Rachel Picken has been promoted from her role as PR manager and joins husband and managing director, Mark, on the Truro-based company’s board. “I’m really excited about becoming a director of MPAD,” said Rachel, who joined the company in 2007. “It feels like a natural progression to work alongside Mark and use my energy and enthusiasm to help grow and develop the business further. “We’ve enjoyed a great deal of success this year, working on some fantastic projects for some excellent clients. “There are some great opportunities coming up and I’m looking forward to continuing to drive the business forward.” As well as Rachel’s appointment the MPAD team is celebrating a flurry of new business wins. Redfuse Internet, King Harry Ferry Company and Cornish fashion label, EKO Sense are amongst some of the latest clients that have come on board with MPAD. Other clients include Lightwater Environment, Highfields School in Redruth Lifestyle Chiropractic and two architect firms - architecture and in St Ives and RLT Architects in Penzance. The company has also been working with business development company YTKO on the launches of two ERDF Convergence-funded projects Partner to Succeed and Outset Cornwall. Managing director, Mark Picken, said: “We are always looking for new challenges so by getting to work with different companies from a range of industry sectors is refreshing. “We’ve been combining PR work with our in-house design services to create new websites and supporting marketing material. We have also been using digital PR techniques such as harnessing social media to build profile for clients.” Rachel added: “We like to build strong relationships with our clients where we become an extension of their team. “We’re a dedicated team who work hard to get the best results for the people we work with.” Several of the new contracts have also come through referrals by Business Link, with which MPAD shares a strong partnership. Rachel Cresswell, Business Adviser from the Business Link Convergence team said: “MPAD is one of the quality suppliers we impartially recommend to businesses we work with. The team is young, innovative and represent genuine Cornish talent. “It is key for Business Link to have good quality, local suppliers to partner with, so that we can provide the best support to our customers and MPAD is a great example – they are flexible, approachable and responsive to our customers’ needs.” Originally based in Penryn after Mark received support from the Prince’s Trust, the company relocated to Truro in 2008 and celebrated its 10th anniversary this year.
