Truro businessman named Best Individual at Cornwall Sustainability Awards

A Cornish businessman has been named as Best Individual in the 2009 Cornwall Sustainability Awards. Mark Picken, managing director of marketing, public relations, advertising and design agency, MPAD, picked up the award today (Friday, December 4) at the ceremony held at the Royal Cornwall Showground, Wadebridge. The judges, who included TV presenter Dick Strawbridge, choose Mark as the winner for his work within the local community. Particular praise was made for his work with the Prince’s Trust and his Sunday league football team, MPAD United. “It was a real surprise to be named winner, but a great honour,” said Mark. “We all work hard within MPAD to support our local community and it’s something that’s very important to us all. “My wife and fellow director, Rachel, is an active supporter and mentor for Unlocking Cornish Potential, while our designer, Matt Hollands, is currently engaged in a web design project with local schools.” The judges were also impressed with the work Mark had done to drive MPAD towards becoming a sustainable business.
