Business Fair 2010 launched on the buses

The profile of Cornwall’s premier business-to-business exhibition has been raised through a link-up with CBS Outdoor, the international outdoor media specialists.

The Cornwall Chamber Business Fair focuses on a business-to-business exhibition that will run from 10am to 4pm on 19thMay on Lemon Quay in Truro. A series of seminars and briefings will add to the products, advice and guidance on offer.

Julie Wheeler of CBS Outdoor explained the importance of the link: “We are very proud to be supporting the Cornwall Chamber with promotion for the Fair. As a local business the only way to survive is to keep old customers coming back and attracting new ones. That means being seen and keeping up to date. We hope that all visitors to the Business Fair will benefit from the information and advice offered; have the opportunity to make invaluable contacts and to pick up some tips and techniques on how to keep their business healthy”

Plans for the Fair have been informed by last year’s 21stbirthday Chamber celebrations. “It worked really well, but you learn a lot when you organise something for the first time.  There are lots of things that we have improved on” says Richard Glover, Chief Executive of the Chamber. “The space has been more designed; there is a networking area in the centre run by Kernow Coffee and a separate seminar space. The seminar programme will include things like tax advice for small businesses, a Cornwall Design Forum event and advice on working with media”.

For all of the business-to-business activity, Richard says that the most important element of the Fair will be raising the profile of the private sector in Cornwall.

“Whatever happens in the General Election, whichever party succeeds, one thing is certain: the business environment in the UK is about to change dramatically. Cornwall is very reliant on the public sector and any cuts to budgets could have a serious impact. How will the private sector respond? What does the private sector need to thrive? These questions are important to us all”.

The Chamber Business Fair will bring together some of Cornwall’s most able business thinkers and doers. This will be a day to give businesses attending a business advantage - improved knowledge and greater connections”.
