Case Study: How Cornwall Chamber of Commerce helped exports rise
Business West partnered with the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce to deliver the Export for Growth contract in Cornwall. Part-funded by the ERDF and partly by the Department for International Trade, this programme has been running in Cornwall since 2016 and is the most comprehensive export programme the Duchy has seen. Recently the project culminated in the Trade Horizons Roadshow: a series of 4 events across the South West to help promote international trade.
We caught up with the Project Implementation Manager Jim Hodgson to find out why Cornwall Chamber was the chosen partner and how its goals and values aligned with those of Export for Growth.
What were the project goals and values?
The overarching project goal was to advance and continue the promotion of exporting in the South West. To achieve this, we wanted to run 4 x events across the region (starting in Cornwall), attract at least 600 delegates, and ensure that at least 25% of those in attendance were from companies who we hadn’t worked with in the past.
Which of these goals align with Cornwall Chamber?
Cornwall Chamber has a rich history of promoting and supporting international trade across the region, so were well-placed to be our partner on this project. A targeted, localised marketing strategy was central to success. Partnering with Cornwall Chamber throughout the project enabled us to use a tailored approach which suited the project goals in addition to the local ambitions of Cornwall Chamber.
Why did you choose to work with the Chamber on E4G?
Cornwall Chamber were selected for our Export for Growth project due to their unique reach across Cornwall and reputation amongst Cornish businesses.
They work with clients to understand and support their business needs resulting in long-term relationships built on results and trust. In addition to advice, the key objective is to deliver low-risk, self-financing solutions, where the benefits can be operational as well as monetary.Tell a Friend
