Cornwall Chamber of Commerce Chamber Awards

Once a year Cornwall Chamber of Commerce’s Chamber Awards are presented, starting the festivities off with a bang! The chamber awards give our members the chance to vote for who they think deserves recognition.

Starting with an infamous Chamber BIG Breakfast, there was a lot of chatter in the room. But were people really talking businesses or were they debating who was going to win?

Cornwall Chamber’s very own Mel Colton-Dyer and Pirate FM’s Mark Peters hit the stage to present the glamourous awards. Could they be the Cornwall’s best double act?
Nominated for the best short presentation award Mick Ryan – CHICKS, Paul Critchley – Smile Together, Will Coleman – The Man Engine and Stephen Baker – Carbis Bay Hotel. All nominees provided delegates with a range of new information at a Chamber breakfast or lunch throughout 2018. The winner was Will Coleman – The Man Engine.

Next up, was the award for the best long presentation of the year, which Matt Bunt and Beth Mayman from St Austell Printing Company scooped up after expressing the importance of print. They reminded us that there are some types of paper we just cannot live without (toilet paper being one). Congratulations to runners up Sue Hook – Sapience HR and Richard Doughty – National Maritime Museum.

We have some brilliant venues we visit throughout the year for over 70 events. You voted for the venue you thought worked the best and… drum roll… the winner was… Bedruthan Hotel & Spa. Also nominated for the shimmering award was, Truro High School and Penventon Park Hotel.

Hosting a BIG Breakfast once a month we’re very lucky to try and taste lots of breakfasts. But who did the members think provided the breakfast to remember? The Atlantic Hotel came out on top providing the yummiest breakfast of the year. Runners up were, Bedruthan Hotel & Spa and Penventon Hotel.

To make sure we support all types of businesses in Cornwall, once a month we host Connected Lunches all over the Duchy. But which venue did our members think worked best? The winner was St Michaels Hotel, Falmouth. Congratulations! Runners up also included Cornish Arms, St Merryn and Bodmin Jail.

Visiting a range of venues for our Connected Lunches, results in even more delicious food! But which 2 course meal did our members think was the best? The Cornish Arms bagged this shimmering award after a cosy afternoon by the fire was enjoyed by all.
A new category for 2018 was best masterclass of the year. Masterclasses enable our members to pass on their expertise and knowledge to the Chamber membership. The competition was strong, but our members thought Sam Amps – Sam Amps Marketing + Web threw the best masterclass of the year.

To celebrate the diversity of our membership and shine a light on our newly acquired membership we have the New Member of the Year Award. This year we were thrilled to award this award to HookedOnMedia, welcome to the Chamber.
We also like to award those members that go the extra mile, our Member Business of the Year award celebrates businesses who have made an impact on our membership. Congratulations to BSpokeIT for doing all thing fabulous.
Finally, the most prestigious award of the Chamber Awards. Networker of the Year. This person religiously turns up to our 70+ events of the year to make connections with as many businesses as possible, fully making the most out their membership. The winner of this was of course Sean McCrohan, a well known member of the Chamber.

Congratulations to all nominees and a huge thank you to our membership for helping us do what we do!
