What do we mean by connectivity?
There’s one business skill which is not technical, not dependent on how many degrees or A Levels you’ve got and which is within reach all of us. And which done well can open myriad opportunities for you and your organisation. It is one of the skills which your Chamber of Commerce can really help you practise. Let’s call it Connectivity. It’s more than Networking. It’s not quite selling. Less scientific than Marketing. More human than IT. But can be all of these things and more, because it relies on human interaction. People buy from people whether those people are in Camborne or Cambodia – and in a digitally connected, post-Brexit world your horizons should encompass both!
Meeting people can appear daunting at first but it only takes a bit of nerve to overcome those butterflies; then you’re in. Cornwall Chamber organises loads of friendly events for you to hone your networking skills at different times of day, different venues, with different sales, learning and supplier possibilities. If you want to dip your toe in the water with a small group first, try one of our Masterclasses where you’ll be one of about a dozen learning some really useful skill while mingling with like-minded folk.
On a wider scale, did you know Cornwall Chamber is one of a network of 53 accredited Chambers covering the whole UK and 42 in key export markets? It is the only business champion with an overseas network. So once you’ve got the hang of this, the World’s your oyster. And we can provide member companies with intros, data and advice. You bring the passion and the know-how.
We’re not only interested in face to face communications though. This year the British Chambers of Commerce national campaign is #nomorenotspots. A developed economy cannot operate unless all its businesses can connect all the time. Already over 4,000 not spots have been identified across the UK and we expect this to double by the end of the year. Please register the not spots which prevent your company operating effectively.
It is a Chamber of Commerce’s role to help grow the economy, make it easier to do business and inspire ambition so let us know how we can best connect you whether that’s at an event like Meet the Neighbour with nearby Chambers, providing you with data to sharpen your sales pitch or lobbying to make sure you’re connected by telecom links everywhere and all the time. kim@cornwallchamber.co.ukTell a Friend
