  • Kim Conchie - Chief Executive

    Kim Conchie read joint honours in English Literature and Economics at Cardiff University. After a few years travelling and a number of commercial roles within publishing companies, Kim founded Brass Tacks Publishing in 1986 and ran it until he sold the company to Chime Communications plc in 2000. Kim remained managing director of the Bristol office of that company which publishes customer magazines and websites until 2009.

    He is now Chief Executive of Cornwall Chamber of Commerce and chair of several business and education boards across Cornwall.

    Kim was chairman of the customer publishing industry's trade association (APA) in 1997-8 and a regular speaker at industry conferences and seminars.

    Mel Colton-Dyer - Business Connections Manager

    Mel Colton-Dyer is the Head of Business Connections and Skills for Cornwall Chamber of Commerce. She has a wide ranging business background which started with a Directorship in Theatre-in-Education, powered through senior hospitality & work based/further education roles, working for 5 years in France for the British Council and Education Nationale and 12 years as the Business Development Manager for Truro and Penwith College, and is now firmly anchored at the heart of the business landscape supporting Cornish businesses. She is the Chair of SMART Cornwall & Isles of Scilly and the Cornwall Business Support Delivery Board, a trustee of iSight Cornwall, on the Board of Cornwall Young Enterprise and represents private enterprise on the Local Enterprise Partnership Employment and Skills Board amongst other strategic activities. Mel specialises in marketing, innovation, funding and change management.

    Trevor Ashbolt - Trans-It-Delivery    

    Trevor established Trans-It-Delivery, a 24/7 Courier Direct Delivery Service in February 2012, having had a previous background in Logistics and driving various types of vehicles up to HGV throughout UK and Europe.
    An enthusiastic supporter and member of the Chamber, I am looking to assist at all levels but especially  new members who may feel their first visits to Chamber functions may be a little daunting.
    We are presently based in Newquay where I live with my partner Julie, a life long Manchester City supporter and we love dining out at the many fantastic Hotels and Restaurants throughout Cornwall.

    Sue is a public relations and marketing professional who has more than 30 years’ experience of working in the industry. She has been running her own agency in Cornwall since 2000 and works with clients in a range of industry sectors both in and out of the county. As well as being a Chamber of Commerce Council member, Sue also sits on the Young Enterprise board for Cornwall, helping young people develop their entrepreneurial skills.

    James is a Director and owner of X-Press Legal Services, supplying conveyancing searches to Conveyancers in Cornwall and Devon. Prior to starting his own business James held management positions in multinational companies such as De la Rue, Kerry Ingredients, Dow Jones, and Associated Press.
    Before supplying services to the legal sector James's expertise ranged from warehousing and logistics to manufacturing improvement and telecommunications, but started his career as a technician testing guided weapons systems.

    Ian Harris - Harris Begley Financial Planning  

    Ian is the CEO of Harris Begley, a county wide financial advice firm with specialists in all areas of Financial Planning, including mortgages, investments, income protection, life assurance, pensions and retirement planning. Ian founded the business in 1999 and was joined by Matt Begley in 2004, when they formed Harris Begley, which now has advisers across Cornwall and in Plymouth to deal with client’s personal and business related enquiries.
    Ian’s primary role is business development and overseeing the general running of the company, whilst largely advising on business protection. Ian is a prominent figure at networking events across the Duchy and as a keen promoter of Cornish business, is an ardent supporter of The Cornwall Chamber of Commerce. 
    He is a Director of the Penzance BID (Business Improvement District) and works with the Penzance Regeneration Board & Place Shaping group to grow and shape Penzance and the business opportunities in the area. 
    “Outside of that there is precious little time for anything else,” Ian explains, but he makes time for family, cars and is still “playing bass at Hope Church at the age of 62!” He is also a trustee of Hopeships, an inspiring Cornish charity based in Newlyn www.hopeships.com

    Phil Hills - Cornwall Environmental Consultants Limited

    Phil is a Director and Manager of Cornwall Environmental Consultants, based near Truro.  He has been resident in Cornwall since 2002 and lives near Camborne with his wife and two children.  Phil’s work provides insights into the issues facing the natural environment and those whose livelihoods depend on it through agriculture, tourism and development, as well as those who use the countryside and coast for recreation and enjoyment.
    Phil’s professional career as a landscape architect, planner and naturalist started in Oxford and then the Midlands, before relocating to Cornwall to fulfil a longstanding ambition to live and work west of the Tamar.  He provides expertise to the Chamber of Commerce Council on environmental matters.

    Paul has been working in supply chain development and business promotion for some thirty years having organised scores of British Pavilions at overseas exhibitions and run countless inward and outward trade missions for a wide variety of industry sectors to mainland Europe, North America, the Middle East, Asia and China.

    Paul joined Cornwall Chamber in June 2016 as Business Relationship and Account Manager and is responsible for growing membership numbers and ensuring all members take full and regular advantage of the opportunities, activities and benefits available through membership.

    Rajesh Joshi - The Penventon Park Hotel  

    Rajesh has a professional track record across the sectors of Retail, Technology and HoReCa, as project director, business consultant and company director/NED. 

    He specialises in corporate turnarounds and major change projects. Previous roles were held at De Vere, Whitbread, Vena and Deloitte before setting up a company in the US 7 years ago.

    Notable achievements include:
    •    As COO in Whitbread took Costa Coffee from a handful of stores to an international Brand across 15 countries, also captained the turnaround of Marriot Hotels UK from a loss making chain to a highly successful European 4-star hotel group.
    •    As Quality and Service Director, and latterly CEO, of Holmes Place took a declining ‘out of fashion’  fitness company to a brand stretching across Europe and the Middle East with 82 Health, Leisure and Spa business.

    Now settled in Cornwall, working with the Pascoe Family to upgrade the famous Penventon Park Hotel in its 50th year to a 4-star-silver accredited hotel. The ambition is to create a premium quality hospitality and leisure business that attracts Guests from all over the world and the UK too.  Through this creating a business that employs over 150 employees, including many Business Management Apprentices who will in turn become entrepreneurs of the future that will contribute in growing the economy of Cornwall.

    Kirsty McAauley - Coodes Solicitors 

    Kirsty is a corporate and commercial solicitor at Coodes, having fully qualified in 2012. She advises on all aspects of business law including: business structure: company, LLP's and partnerships; business sales share/asset sale and purchase; company formation, incorporations; commercial contracts; terms and conditions and intellectual property. She has a particular focus on agricultural partnerships and the structure of family businesses.

    Kirsty won the Junior Lawyer of the Year award in 2012 as recognition for the work she undertook in relation to the new academy schools structure.

    Kirsty is based in Falmouth but works all over the county and Devon to provide her specialist support. Kirsty is a keen gig rower and musician and is generally happiest when in or on the sea!

    Tristan Netherton  - Microtest Ltd 

    Tristan is Head of Sales for Microtest, a pioneering IT Company that is one of the top four suppliers of GP systems in the UK as well as providing IT services to businesses and homes across the country. Having initially joined the family business in 2001 as a Build Technician, Tristan has progressed within the company and now oversees a team which covers all sales streams, including the NHS, government, local councils, businesses and consumers, both nationally and internationally.  
     
    Tristan’s primary role is to provide consultancy to help identify and provide cutting edge, innovative solutions. One of the elements that Tristan most enjoys about his work is the ‘blue sky thinking’ for which he has a particular flair.
     
    Tristan is based in Bodmin, but  frequently travels throughout the UK to deliver Microtest’s consultancy & innovative services. 
     
    He is also an avid gig rower, having rowed for the Mevagissey team for over 25 years, as well as singing within a Shanty group named Stuns’ls which he formed and now takes part in various festivals throughout the region.

    Ian is 48 years of age, lives in St Agnes and is married to Lisa with 2 Sons, Sam and Kit.
    He has been in the Insurance Industry for all of his working life, with both Insurers and Brokers. He has worked in the Midlands and Devon and Cornwall. He looks after a variety of clients, from industries such as Farming, Construction, Country Estates, Property Management, Leisure, Hotels etc. So, by being part of the Team for these Industries, he has a wide range of knowledge of the risks that may affect these industries as well as what they are looking for from the Chamber and other sources of help.
