There has never been a more important time to find out how our economy is coping with the uncertainties around the UK's future position out of Europe.
This FREE event for members of Cornwall Chamber of Commerce provides you with an opportunity to meet with the Bank of England's South West Agents and discuss the economy, business and Bank of England policy.
During the meeting Jamie Barber, Deputy Agent for the South West will give a short presentation and each attendee will be able to speak about the economic conditions affecting their own businesses. The Bank uses this confidential source of information to help provide the Monetary Policy Committee with an up-to-date picture of what is happening in the economy.
The Bank’s regional agents speak to a wide range of business, across all sectors, gathering ‘intelligence’ about business conditions, which is fed into the central analytical, forecasting and policy teams. Malindi also delivers presentations to set out the Bank’s thinking on macroeconomic developments and how that underpins the MPC’s monetary policy decisions.
The presentation will outline the Bank’s analysis and forecasts on recent economic developments, covering output, the labour market, inflation and the monetary policy stance. It will reflect the updates to the Bank’s view as set out in the May Monetary Policy Report. Malindi will present for around 30 minutes followed by questions and discussion for 30 minutes.
