    Introduction to Teaching and Professional Development Options

    Tuesday 19th June, 09:00 - 17:00

    Aimed at those interested in exploring a career in teaching, this free taster session will introduce you do a variety of higher-level training opportunities and how developing these skills could benefit your career.

    Session 1: Introduction to Teaching (09:00 - 13:00)
    Providing a practical introduction to learning, teaching and assessment, this session will encourage you to consider your own experiences as a learner to explore the defining characteristics of a good teacher. Focusing on the communication and planning skills required to deliver a lesson, you will also discover how to check that learning has taken place. An overview of the range of different teaching pathways will also be discussed with an opportunity for attendees to ask questions and find out what routes are available.

    Session 2: Professional Development Options (13:00 - 17:00)
    Delving further into the world of education, this session will introduce you to a range of theories within educational leadership and specialist areas such as alternative learning environments. The benefits for students using these theories and practices will also be explored, alongside themes of mental health and special educational needs (SEN). An overview of the range of different Success Courses, and opportunities that Truro and Penwith College has to improve your professional development within Education as Ofsted Outstanding and a Gold TEF Higher Education provider. Attendees can also ask questions and find out what opportunities are right for them.

    Guests are welcome to attend the event for the whole day or just the morning or afternoon sessions; please specify your preference when booking.

    Free taster days are standalone, non-accredited sessions that will allow you to find out what studying these subjects at a Higher Level would entail and where gaining these qualifications could take you.
