Sustainability and Enterprise Forum: ...Description
Truro and Penwith College are working with the Curatorial Research Centre to design a short CPD course which aims to equip learners with the skills they need to address key challenges and issues facing the Cornish heritage and cultural tourism industry.
This forum will explore current trends, our sources of information, and our ability to adapt and act on them. It will provide an opportunity for you to identify the areas in which you would like to develop better knowledge and experience. During the forum you will be working with us to co-design a high-quality university level course that is directly relevant to you and the wider sector.
This will be of interest to:
- Micro and small and medium sized enterprises working in, or wishing to work in cultural tourism
- Those volunteering or working in a cultural or heritage group or organisation
- Freelancers and consultants who support cultural tourism and heritage
- Businesses which provide services, events and products to tourists in CornwallTopics we can explore together may include:
- The Purple Pound. Understanding the value of investing in inclusive design
and access - Global attitudes and behaviours to Cornwall and the UK. International cultural
tourism in a new landscape - Sustainable cultural tourism and the climate emergency. Travel and
destination options and choices, group travel, impact on communities.
During this fully funded* forum, you will have the opportunity to share your experiences with other enterprises in the sector, explore the issue of skills and knowledge gaps and start to develop practical solutions that work for you, leading the way for the industry as a whole.
Following this forum, you will have an opportunity to test the structure and content of the course through a free taster day. Attending the full five days course, once developed, would lead to being awarded a Short Course Award accredited by the University Plymouth, having achieved 20 credit module at L4, with the potential to create a three module 60 credit CPD Award at L4 and 5 (subject to eligibility).
Our event will include Lunch and refreshments, facilitated workshops, network opportunities and your chance to shape the future of our Higher-Level provision.
