DESCRIPTION:Business leaders from companies of all sizes in Cornwall are invited to attend a special event to hear from some of the best minds from Brussels to Barripper about the possible implications of the UK\, and more specifically Cornwall leaving the EU.\n\nLast year's event at the Eden Project was our favourite of the year in terms of the depth of research and knowledge provided by our speakers\, and this year we have\n\nAn impressive line-up of speakers includes:\n\n Katie Cavell (Cornwall Brussels Representative)\n Mike Spicer (Director of Research and Economics British Chambers of Commerce)\n Lord Dartmouth - UKIP\, International Trade spokesman for the EFDD\, INTA committee member in the European Parliament\n Verity Slater & Lisa Mulholland\, Stephens Scown LLP\n Lord Teverson (Liberal Democrat and member of the European Union Committee)\n Adam Paynter (Leader of Cornwall County Council)\n\n Katie Cavell\n\nKatie is a freelance European Affairs Adviser based in Brussels\, and since 2013\, is the Cornwall Brussels Representative. Katie has 12 years' experience of working with European Union policy and affairs in Brussels and has expertise in EU regional policy\, EU decision-making\, and how to influence policy. As the Cornwall Brussels Representative\, Katie serves the interests of Cornwall in Brussels through influence\, intelligence\, and advocacy by providing information on key strategic policy issues\, through focused and coordinated lobbying in key areas of interest\, and by raising the profile of Cornwall in Europe. Katie has previous experience working for the UK Government in Brussels\, and as head of the Welsh Local Government Association EU office. Since becoming freelance Katie has supported a number of UK and European regions\, as well as private sector organisations to understand and to influence EU policy development. Katie is an advocate of EU policies for regional development and of a stronger role for regions in EU decision-making. Katie is an active contributor to the debate in Brussels on the future of EU regional investments.\n\n \n\nMike Spicer \n\nMike joined the BCC in February 2011 and became Director of Research and Economics in January 2014. He directs the BCC's policy research and survey programme. Mike represents the BCC externally on business policy and matters relating to local economic development.\n\n \nLisa Mulholland\n\nLisa joined Stephens Scown as a solicitor in 2014 and supervises the Immigration team. She assists clients with entry clearance and leave to remain applications under Appendix FM of the Immigration Rules and Tier 1\, 2 and 4 of the Points Based System.\n\n \n\nVerity Slater\n\nVerity is an experienced partner who helps resolve disputes between businesses and employees\, whether before or through employment tribunal cases. She also works in partnership with businesses to proactively improve their HR practices\, with a particular emphasis on ethical people management - to create happy and engaged workforces. She also is an expert on employment issues arising in commercial transactions.\n\n\nLord Teverson \n\nLord Teverson is a Liberal Democrat who has sat in the House of Lords since 2006 and is a member of the European Union Committee\, he chairs its sub-committee on energy and the environment. He was Cornwall's MEP between 1994 and 1999. Robin spent some 20 years in the freight industry\, and then the financial services sector. He is a board member of the Marine Management Organisation\, and chairs Wessex Investors and Anchorwood Developments.\n\n\n\nLord Dartmouth\n\nWilliam Dartmouth MEP represents the South West of England & Gibraltar at the European Parliament\, having been elected in 2009 and 2014. He is International Trade spokesman for UKIP & EFDD and is a member of the INTA Committee. William has campaigned for Brexit for many years\, and recently wrote the book Inconvenient Truths About UK Trade and the EU.\n\n\n\nAdam Paynter\n\nAdam Paynter is currently the Leader of Cornwall Council. Adam has been a member of the council since its inception in 2009 and previous to that was a member of Cornwall County Council for 8 years. He has previously held many positions in the Council including Deputy Leader\, Cabinet Member for Environment & Heritage and Resources. Adam studied agriculture at degree level and works on diversifying his family's farm into renewable energy ventures.
