Supporting leisure and tourism businesses in reaching new customers

With its rich past of wreckers and pirates, Cornwall’s import history has led the way for exports over the years. It may sound unusual to call overseas visitors exports, but here at the Chamber, we have realised that anything a company is doing to bring money from overseas into the county classes as export to us.

Following the wonderful success of our Cornish Style catalogue; listing 30 of Cornwall’s finest artists in once place, the next Export for Growth Campaign is underway. Cornwall International Tourism Week is a three day roadshow aimed at businesses in the tourism and leisure sector in Cornwall. We’ve partnered with the mighty Visit Cornwall and Export for Growth to offer fully funded spaces on some highly targeted workshops that give you excellent take away to start improving your bookings year round. Many overseas markets have a much longer tourist season than the UK, and we can help you attract more of these customers.

    Bursary Support

Export for Growth, part funded by the European Regional Development Fund and part by the Department for International Trade is offering digital bursaries to eligible businesses to support the internationalisation of their websites and attract more overseas visitors. Bursaries can also be spent on advertising, trade visits and translation. Details of how to apply will be given at the workshops. Specific criteria will be assessed prior to your attendance and our team will recommend which businesses will qualify for funding.

    Falmouth, Penzance, Newquay

Having delivered workshops in this style in 2017, Cornwall Chamber of Commerce is bringing the International Tourism Week workshop to a town near you!

We are supporting local small businesses within each town to provide a relaxed place to learn and engage with peers in the same industry locally.

    Delicious Takeaway

Well, we can’t promise you a doggy bag, as each space on the workshop is funded by the programme, but what we do know is that the workshop itself provides an excellent manual for implementing an international marketing strategy almost at once.

Book a ticket in your nearest town today and get ready for international tourism!

Export for Growth is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and part funded by the Department for International Trade (DIT). In Cornwall, the programme is delivered by Cornwall Chamber of Commerce and mobile trade advisers from DIT. International Tourism Week is a partnership between Cornwall Chamber of Commerce and Visit Cornwall to help support local tourism and leisure businesses to make the most of the overseas opportunities.

The bursaries are funded by the Export for Growth project, and will be awarded to businesses that can forecast an increase in international sales, based on number of visits and other criteria. Our team will explain this at each of the separate events.
