About Us
Special Olympics Cornwall is part of Special Olympics Great Britain and a charity run entirely by volunteers. In Cornwall we want to ensure that people with an Intellectual Disability are given the opportunity to take part in olympic type sports with an all year round programme of coaching and competition. We have a main club which meets monthly (first Saturday of the month) at Truro College, Lynher Building from 12 noon until 2pm. This is a multi sports activity session with football, boccia, badminton, table tennis, archery, kurling, cricket, basket ball with an emphasis on socialising with friends, family, carers etc.
We have weekly hub clubs offering coaching in specific sports which provide a pathway to competition at local, regional and national level. These include:
Tennis @ Heron Tennis, Newquay - Saturday mornings
Football @ Truro College with St Agnes FC - Saturday mornings
Basketball @ Truro College - Thursday evenings
Boccia @ Truro College - Friday evenings
* We have plans to develop hub clubs in Penzance, Liskeard, Saltash and Bodmin for Table Tennis, Badminton and Gymnastics.Images
