Chancellor plans High Street Rates Relief

Cornwall Chamber of Commerce is delighted with the news that in the budget Phillip Hammond will announce tax breaks for high streets. This is one of seven asks from the British Chambers of Commerce focusing on targeted, affordable change across the economy’s various strands: property, infrastructure and capital. This will help to lift productivity and support a stronger economy.

At a time when the economy is so volatile as the country awaits the outcomes of the Brexit vote, this strong message of support to small businesses and retailers is particularly welcome.

Cornwall Chamber of Commerce CEO Kim Conchie said, “We welcome this support for our high streets and hope that Cornwall Council will follow suit by listening to the residents’ pleas for affordable parking within our towns.”
