Bank of England PresentationDescription
The presentation will outline the Bank’s analysis and forecasts on recent economic developments, covering output, the labour market, inflation and the monetary policy stance. It will reflect the updates to the Bank’s view as set out in the May Monetary Policy Report. Jamie will present for around 30 minutes followed by questions and discussion for 30 minutes.
Jamie Barber is Deputy Agent for the Bank of England in the South West. Prior to joining the Agency, Jamie was a manager in the Bank's Prudential Policy Directorate where he spent a number of years developing various financial sector policy reforms following the 08/09 financial crisis. This included a stint at HM Treasury on secondment in 2013. Jamie has represented the UK authorities internationally on Financial Stability Board and European Banking Authority policy groups. Earlier in his career, he was a banking supervisor at the Financial Services Authority.
The Bank’s regional agents speak to a wide range of business, across all sectors, gathering ‘intelligence’ about business conditions, which is fed into the central analytical, forecasting and policy teams. Jamie also delivers presentations to set out the Bank’s thinking on macroeconomic developments and how that underpins the MPC’s monetary policy decisions.
